Improve Your English through Reading

Reading is a very active process. That means using your brain in a very active way. When you read something you should try to imagine it in your head. That is one way to make what you read interesting. For example, look at this sentence:
A lady with a little dog came for a walk in the university.
When you read this sentence what do you see in your mind? See, you have already used your brain in an active way. When you learn a language, it is important to learn grammar, writing and speaking, but reading can also be very helpful to learn a language. There are many advantages of reading in English. Let's see what they are.
You always come across new words when you read. If there are too many new words in the text you read, then the level is too high so you should read something simpler. But if there are only about five new words per page, you will learn this vocabulary easily. Sometimes you might not need to use a dictionary because you can guess the meaning from the context. Look at the following sentence for example:

Factories emit harmful gases into the air.
You already know the meaning of the words factories, harmful, gases and air. So you know the context of the sentence. Using that you can guess the meaning of the verb emit. When you read not only you learn new words, but your also see them being used in writing. This gives you a good example for writing. Texts that you read show you expressions and sentence structures that you can use when you write.
You can read as fast or as slowly as you like. You can read ten pages in 30 minutes, or take one hour to explore just one page. It doesn't matter. The choice is yours. This is one of the biggest advantages of reading because different people work at different speeds.
If you choose something that you like to read, it can actually be interesting and enjoyable. For example if you like to read about cricket or fashion in your own language, why not read about cricket or fashion in English? You will get information about the topics that you like and improve your English at the same time.
Five Tips for Reading....
Tip 01- Try to read at the right level.
Tip 02-Make a note of new vocabulary.
Tip 03-Try to read regularly. For example, read for a short time once a day. 15 minutes everyday is better than two hours everyday.
Tip 04-Be organized. When you read have a dictionary, vocabulary note book, a pen to write down new words and a highlighter to highlight them in the text.
Tip 05-Read what interests you!

လက္ဆင့္ကမ္းျခင္း

Certainly not! (လံုး၀ပဲ)
You use certainly not! as a stronger way of saying 'no' in answer to a question:
လံုး၀ပဲ certainly not!ကို ေမးခြန္းကို အျငင္းအေနျဖင့္ ေျပာရာတြင္ ပိုမို ထိေရာက္ေအာင္ ေျပာဆိုရာတြင္ အသုံးျပဳသည္။
  • 'Are you going to give up work now you are 60?'
    အခုအသက္ ၆၀ ရွိျပီဆိုေတာ့ အလုပ္က အနားယူေတာ့မွာလား။
'Certainly not! I'm fit and healthy and well able to work.'
    လံုး၀ပဲ။ ငါက က်န္းမာတယ္။ ျပီးေတာ့ အလုပ္လုပ္ႏိုင္ေသးတယ္။
  • 'Did you lend Jack your car?'
    Jack ကို မင္းကားငွားလိုက္လား?
Certainly not! He is a very bad driver.'
    လံုး၀ပဲ။ သူက အရမး္ဆုိးတဲ့ ကားေမာင္းသမားေလ။

Hardly (ေ၀းပါေသးတယ္)

You say hardly when something seems very unlikely or unreasonable to you:
ေ၀းပါေသးတယ္ hardlyကို သင့္အတြက္ တစ္စံုတစ္ခုသည္ မျဖစ္ႏိုင္ (သို႔) က်ိဳးေၾကာင္းမသင့္ေလ်ာ္ပါက အသံုးျပဳႏိုင္သည္။
  • Will Sara be at Meg's wedding?'

    ေ၀းပါေသးတယ္ သူမက သတို႔သားနဲ႔ အရင္တုန္းက ေစ့စပ္ဖူးတယ္ေလ။
  • Will we reach the hotel before dinner?'

    ေ၀းပါေသးတယ္။ ေနာက္ထပ္ ကီလိုမီတာ ၁၅၀ ေလာက္သြားရဦးမယ္။

I've no idea (မေျပာတတ္ဘူး)

You say I've no idea when you wish to emphasize that you do not know the answer to something:
မေျပာတတ္ဘူး I’ve no idea ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ခုႏွင့္ပတ္သက္၍ အေျဖမသိေၾကာင္းကို
အေလးေပး ေျပာလိုသည့္အခါတြင္ အသံုးျပဳႏုိင္ပါသည္။
  • 'Where has Jim gone?'
    Jim ဘယ္သြားလဲ
'I've no idea. He left without saying anything.'
    မေျပာတတ္ဘူး။ သူက ဘာမွမေျပာပဲထြက္သြားတာပဲ။
  • I've no idea why Ben and Tom quarrelled.
    Ben နဲ႔ Tom ဘာေၾကာင့္စကားမ်ားလဲေတာ့ မေျပာတတ္ဘူး။
They've always been such good friends.
     သူတို႔က အျမဲတမ္း သူငယ္ခ်င္းေကာင္းေတြ ပဲ။

It's just that
(အဲ့ဒါကေတာ့)

You say it's just that when you are giving a reason for something or explaining something:
အဲဒါကေတာ့ it’s just thatကို အေၾကာင္းတစ္စံုတစ္ရာႏွင့္ပတ္သက္၍ အေၾကာင္းျပခ်က္ေပးလိုေသာအခါ (သို႔) ရွင္းျပလိုေသာ အခါတြင္ အသံုးျပဳႏိုင္ပါသည္။

  • I'd like to go to the wedding. It's just that - I have to work that day.
    ငါက မဂၤလာေဆာင္ကို သြားခ်င္ပါတယ္။ အဲ့ဒါက ငါအဲ့ဒီေန႔မွာ အလုပ္လုပ္ရမွာ မို႔လို႔ပါ။
I know 1 said that I would finish the work by this afternoon. It's just that it is taking much longer than I thought it would.
    ဒီေန႔ ေန႔လည္ခင္းမွာ အလုပ္ကို အျပီးလုပ္မယ္လို႔ေျပာခဲ့တာငါသိပါတယ္။ အဲ့ဒါကေတာ့ ငါမွန္းတာထက္ အခ်ိန္ပိုၾကာသြားလို႔ပါ။

What's the matter? (ဘာျဖစ္ေနတာလဲ။)

You say what's the matter? when you ask why someone is upset, angry, etc:
ဘာျဖစ္ေနတာလဲ what’s the matterကို တစ္စံုတစ္ေယာက္အား ဘာအတြက္ေၾကာင့္ ၀မ္းနည္း၊ စိတ္ဆိုးေနသည္ စသည္တို႕ကို ေမးရာတြင္ အသံုးျပဳသည္။
  • Jane is crying. What’s the matter with her?
    Jane ငိုေနတယ္။ သူမဘာျဖစ္ေနတာလဲသိဘူး။
What's the matter with Ben? He's just left the house looking furious
    Ben ဘာျဖစ္ေနတာလဲ။ အိမ္ထဲကေန အခုေလးတင္ပဲ စိတ္ဆိုးေနတဲ့ပံုနဲ႕ ထြက္သြားတယ္။
